Spring Toggles

Spring toggles are metal cavity fixings that have spring loaded wings for use when fastening items to hollow walls and ceilings.

Our spring toggles are supplied with pan head pozidrive screws, but any type of screw with an identical thread size may be used with the toggle.

How to install a spring toggle

To install a spring toggle, drill a large enough hole in the wall to accommodate the wings of the toggle when they are folded back against the screw thread.

Attach the screw through the item that is being fixed and with the wings folded back, push the toggle assembly through the hole.

The wings of the toggle will then spring open behind the wall. To get them to bite, pull the item that you are fixing gently forward until you feel resistance and tighten the screw.

The main disadvantage of a spring toggle is that if for any reason you need to unscrew the fixture, the wings of the toggle will fall into the cavity, meaning that a complete new spring toggle will be required.
