Screw Hooks

Screw hooks are effectively a threaded screw with a hook on one end instead of a traditional screw head. Screw hooks are inserted by hand and can be screwed directly into wood and other similar soft substrates. In masonry they can also be used in conjunction with a plastic wall plug.

Screw hooks are most commonly used as hanging hooks. They are also used for attaching cables, wire, and string to walls. You will often find screw hooks used for various hanging purposes around the house, garage, and workshop.

They are available in two designs – a cup version or a right-angled version called a square hook. Cup versions are generally used for hanging items in storage that are often removed and used – mugs or tools for example. Square hooks, sometimes called L hooks, are more often used to permanently secure items such as paintings, mirrors or cabinets.
