Screw Eyes

Screw eyes are effectively a threaded screw with a formed loop on the top instead of a traditional screw head. They are sometimes incorrectly referred to as a screw eye bolt. Screw eyes are inserted by hand and can be screwed directly into wood and other similar soft substrates. In masonry they can also be used in conjunction with a plastic wall plug.

Screw eyes are most commonly used for attaching cables, wire, and string to walls or other objects. You will often find them on the rear of a picture frame with the string running through them and across the frame.
