Nord-Lock washers are branded, innovative locking washers that are sold in pairs. In contrast to other types of locking washers, Nord-Lock washers use tension rather than friction to achieve the lock.
Nord-Lock washers have a cam face on one side and radial teeth on the other side. When the matching faces are tightened, the radial teeth grip and lock the mating surfaces, with movement only possible across the cam face. A wedge effect is then created between the cams on the two cam faces that prevent the bolt from rotating loose.
Nord-Lock washers are available in metric or imperial. There are two choices of finishes – choose from A4-316 stainless steel or KL100 zinc flake coating (Delta Protekt).
These impressive fixings outperform all other types of locking washers under strict test conditions. As a result, they are commonly used in a wide range of industries including engineering, construction, manufacturing and rail.
The most common thread type in production today. Usually specified as M then a number x another number. This signifies the thread diameter and the length of the fastener.
For example, M4 x 30 means that the major thread diameter (the external distance across the outside of the thread) is 4mm and the length is 30mm. Length is usually measured from the underside of the fastener head.
